Hardware Overview
The GL AX1800 wifi router comes with a sleek design. For wider coverage there are four external foldable antennas. On the back panel of the Flint, there are five Gigabit Ethernet ports. On one side there is a power port for turning on the Flint whereas on the other side of the back panel there is a reset button. Additionally, there is an USB 3.0 port as well and just beside it there is a sync button.

Setting Up GL AX1800 Wifi Router
Before starting the GL AX1800 setup steps, download the GL.inet app on your smart device. To download the app you can simply scan the setup card or get it directly from the Google Play Store or an App store. Once done, now follow the below mentioned directions step by step.
Initial Steps
- Firstly, turn on the bluetooth so you can connect to the Flint.
- Next, select the “Use without cloud option”. A list appears on your screen. From it select the model name that is GL-AX1800.
- Now, make sure the items that are displayed on the screen are kept ready for the GL AX1800 setup. If you have all the required components select “start”.
- Here you’ll be prompted to reboot the modem. To reboot simply detach the modem from the power source. Let it sit vacant for a minute or so and then replug. Now tap on “Next”.
Power Up GL AX1800 Setup
To power on the Flint, pick the power adapter, plug its power pin into the power port. Now provide adequate electrical supply to turn on the router. As it turns on successfully, on the front panel of the Flint the blue light pops up.
After that, pick the Ethernet cable and connect its one end to the ethernet port of the modem. The second end goes into Flint’s WAN port.
Final GL AX1800 Setup Steps
- Now, return back to the GL.inet app and scan for Flint. Immediately click on confirm when you see Flint’s model name pop up.
- Finally, fill up the details of the admin account and tap on Submit. It’s advisable to use a password which is unique and a little complex.
- Further, set the location of the Flint and hit on “Confirm”. Location plays a major role in how the router performs, therefore place the router strategically.
- Now it’s time to customize the wifi name and password. As you do so, tap on “Submit”.
- Lastly, connect to the wifi by first selecting the SSID and then typing in the password that you just set during the GL AX1800 setup.
As the setup completes, the blue light on the front panel of the Flint will turn into solid white. Thus indicating a successful connection to the Internet.
Access Advanced Settings Through Web Browser
As the initial GL AX1800 setup completes you can configure more settings on the web admin page. For this, open any internet browser, head towards the address bar, fill up http://192.168.8.1 and hit enter. Fill up the password and tap on the Login option. Finally, access various settings and customize the network as per your needs and preferences.
